Snow Leopard Pictures

Snow Leopards are elusive, and some locals refer to them as 'mountain ghosts'. They are one of the least seen of the big cats. They are vulnerable on the extinction chart, and there are approximately 4,500-10,000 left.The scientific name for snow leopards is 'Uncia Uncia'  . China holds 60% of the snow leopard population. The fur on their belly is about 5 inches thick! Snow leopards are generally smaller than most big cats, they weigh only about 30-50 kg. Their tails are almost as long as their bodies! They're very shy, they are hardly ever seen out in the open.
